City of Forney

The City of Forney is located a few minutes east of Sunnyvale down US 80. It is located in Kaufman County and has been named by the Texas legislature as the “Antique Capital of Texas”. 

There has been recent talk and even a TXDOT hosted public hearing regarding the proposed expansion of US Highway 80 to six lanes. Residents generally welcome the idea as this is the only major highway that provides access to and from Forney.

Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. is building a massive 1.2 million square foot distribution center off of US Highway 80 in Forney. The city is rezoning 102 acres for the construction project. The location is expected to employ about 200 people.

In recent years, Forney has been breaking its own records for residential building permits. The city has seen rapid growth as a popular location for large lot sizes such as a half acre or more, even in new subdivisions.
